A window into a wooded landscape, which started life along the bank of the River Goyt, in Marple Bridge. The conversations you have with passers-by when painting ‘en plein air’ (in the open air) always imbue each artwork with memories of that particular day, and it was wonderful to find how many had their own private pursuit and enjoyment of art.

This majestic tree nestled into the bank of the river caught my eye immediately. Finished in the studio, the characterful trunk reminds me of evening tales and folklore, told generation after generation.
