The breadth of colour in dappled shade can be beautiful. This painting was started on the Millennium Walkway itself in the midday sun, with a loose preparatory sketch and brush marks applied quickly over the course of an hour. Rich colour has been built up in thin layers within the studio, and I love the bold sweep of the bridge cutting across the river at Torrs Gorge, New Mills.
