Painted ‘en plein air’ (created on location) with finishing touches in the studio, ‘Lock 6’ is an understated favourite. Capturing a well known route along Marple’s famous flight of locks, the swoop of the path down to the next lock and the rich overhanging canopy takes me straight back the heat of that day, and the many engaging conversations held with art enthusiasts and local passerby.
